Typical Structure of Decanter Centrifuge Drum
The decanter centrifuge, commonly known as the "decanter," is primarily constructed from key components such as the drum, screw, differential, frame, and cover. In its operation, the drum and screw rotate concurrently in the same direction at a designated differential speed.
Material is continuously introduced into the spiral inner cylinder through the feed pipe and is then accelerated into the rotating drum. Here, centrifugal force acts upon the material, causing the denser solid substances to settle on the drum's wall, forming a sediment layer. The screw actively propels the sludge towards the drum cone's end, where it is efficiently discharged from the machine through the designated discharge port.
Meanwhile, the lighter liquid phase forms an inner liquid ring, which effortlessly spills out through the overflow port at the drum's larger end, ultimately draining from the machine through the drain port, achieving seamless liquid-solid two-phase separation or liquid-liquid-solid three-phase separation.
